Kansas teen just misses out on National Spelling Bee finals
OXON HILL, Md. (AP) — A spelling champion from Kansas did an outstanding job but was eliminated in round 6 of the Scripps National Spelling Bee on Wednesday afternoon. Carey Chebii Chesire, 13, Andover Middle School was eliminated attempting to spell sagenite. He spelled it saginite, according to the Scripps Spelling Bee web site. He finished in the top 45.
