Hays apartment damaged in fire Saturday
On June 3 at approximately 4:34 p.m. the Hays Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a fire in a apartment complex located at 2704 Epworth Steet in Hays. Arriving fire crews found smoke coming from the apartment. Fire crews deployed an attack line to extinguish the fire and was quickly brought under control. Crews stayed on scene for several hours to clear out smoke and CO gases in neighboring apartments. Fire damage was limited to the original apartment.

The Ellis County Commission will consider allowing the discharge of fireworks in the unincorporated areas of the county at the commission's first meeting of June. Kan. fire chief injured in explosion upgraded to good condition
RUSSELL COUNTY —The condition of Russell Fire Chief Dylan Riedel, injured while fighting a fire on Friday, has been upgraded to good, according to the city of Russell. Just after 9 p.m. Friday, the City of Russell Fire Department was paged to a structure fire at 1706 N. Main Street, according to a media release.
