Verona Softball Halts Comeback Effort For 11th Victory
VERONA, NJ - Verona Varsity Softball secured their 11th victory of the season on Monday, but not without some late-game stress, courtesy of Nutley sluggers. After a three-run sixth inning put the Hillbillies up 5-1 heading into the final frame, Nutley answered with three of their own before their comeback effort was sealed shut. Junior Danielle Imbriano, sophomore Synclaire Szamborski, and seniors Gabby Egnezzo and Lauren Paz each had an RBI. Szamborski also took the mound in the contest, allowing four runs (one earned), walking three, and striking out two. For the Raiders, Quennie Chavez and Gianna Haines recorded multiple hits. Seven of the nine sluggers in the lineup recorded a hit, with a Gabriella Botti double representing the only one that went for extra bases.
