    Chargers and South Plainfield End in Tie on the Diamond

    SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - The Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division champion Spotswood High School varsity baseball team took the field against the GMC's Red Division champs South Plainfield High School on Monday. After seven innings, the two GMC division titleholders were tied at six. The game ended in a tie after five extra innings didn't yield a victory for either team. It is the second tie this season for the Chargers.

    Carter Cumiskey pitched six innings for the Chargers, giving up four runs on six hits and striking out nine. Breckyn DeAngelis was on the mound for four innings, giving up two runs on three hits and striking out two. Tyler Oleksy pitched two innings and struck out four batters. Aiden McCarthy, Ryan Balent, Lorenzo Fuscoletti and Chase Donovan all spent time on the mound for the Tigers.

    DeAngelis had three singles and two RBIs. Cumiskey, Will Buchan, Colin Pfeiffer, Shawn Lennan and Stephen Henits all scored a run for Spotswood. Mason Bitalla hit a single and had an RBI. John Lubin had a single and scored one of Spotswood's runs. Dan Kapsch, Brandon Bickunas, Jayden Alvarez, Nick Irizarry, McCarthy, Dave Butrico and Blanet had hits for the Tigers.

    Spotswood's tie moves the Chargers overall season record to 18-3-1. The Chargers are back on the field on Tuesday when the team hosts South Amboy High School at the Swamp. South Amboy is 12-2 this season and undefeated in the Greater Middlesex Conference's Gold Division.
