The Bengals are scheduled to be back in action on May 14, in a game versus Technology High. On May 15, it's off to Glen Ridge for a 4 p.m. game and on May 16, the team visits Hoboken, in a 4:30 p.m. start.

The Bengals had lost to Montclair, on May 4, 5-0, West Essex, 9-0, on May 6 and had a tough 3-2 setback to Millburn, before coming back to win two straight over Belleville, 11-1, on May 9 and the game against North Arlington.

"Our team battled back after those three losses," said Adams. "Against Belleville, freshman Teagan Weber had 10 strikeouts over four innings, while giving up just four hits and a run. Alyssa Haag, also a freshman, was 3-for-4, while seniors Olivia Gonnella and Rylie Fabrazzo had two hits each."

The coach noted that Meg Lardner pitched seven solid innings, giving up one earned run, striking out eight and scattering three hits versus North Arlington. The Bengals won the 'Sprague-Jennings Cup', with the win.

"Rylie had two RBI and two hits, and Alyssa Haag also had two hits in the North Arlington game," said Adams. "Defensively, Rylie picked off a runner at first base and threw out another at second, from behind the plate, as well."

After the win over North Arlington, the Bengals hosted an alumni softball game. This is the 50th anniversary of the program, and a good turnout of former players participated.

Heading into this week, Bloomfield was seeded eighth in the 16-team field in North 1, Group 4, for the upcoming state tournament. If they hold that position, The Bengals would get a first-round home game.

The cut-off to qualify for the tourney is May 18, with the actual games beginning next week.
