NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A New York City Department of Parks and Recreation employee was arrested on Thursday afternoon for having forged out-of-state plates on his car, and resisted when police went to arrest him, the NYPD said.

Ahmahd Daniels, 25, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, having an unregistered vehicle, obstruction of government administration and illegal signaling when police arrested him on Staten Island.

At 5:36 p.m., officers pulled over Daniels for failing to signal and discovered that he was driving with forged temporary Georgia license plates. Daniels was off-duty at the time of the traffic stop.

According to police, Daniels tensed and flailed his arms after he was pulled out of the car, which also caught him a charge for resisting arrest.

The arrest comes amid efforts by an interagency task force including MTA Bridges and Tunnels, the NYPD, Port Authority and other partners to crack down on ghost cars and other toll violators. During a two-day operation in April, officials made 21 arrests and issued 793 summonses.

NYC Parks did not respond to 1010 WINS/WCBS 880’s request for comment.
