STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) – PennDOT provided another update on the ongoing Atherton Street project.

Drivers can expect to encounter crews between West Irvin Avenue and Center Lane between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. from Monday, April 29 through Thursday, May 3 as full-depth roadway reconstruction gets underway. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic controls at the Westerly Parkway intersection as necessary between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Also on Tuesday, April 30, crews will perform signal upgrades at the intersection of Atherton Street and Beaver Avenue. Flaggers will also be present at this intersection to provide traffic controls.

Drivers are encouraged to allow themselves extra travel time or to consider alternative routes. However, PennDOT also said in the update that contractors will not be working May 3 to minimize the impact to those traveling to the Penn State University spring commencement.
