Motorcyclist killed in Champaign crash identified by coroner
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - A motorcyclist who was killed in a crash in Champaign Thursday night has been identified by the coroner. Champaign Police were called to the intersection of University and Fourth St. at 10:06 p.m. They found a 19-year-old Indiana man who had been thrown from his motorcycle following a crash with the car.

A sad day for the Mattis Avenue post office
The United States Postal Service processing and distribution center on Mattis Ave is going to be modernized into a local processing center and people are not happy. Earlier this year, we wrote an editorial about the situation and the impact these changes would have. People have protested, filled out survey’s, and Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (D-IL) even tried to halt the change by filing a bill in Congress to try and stop the USPS from consolidating. But it seems as though changes are imminent. The USPS has promised to invest up to $16.4 million to help streamline operations and has also promised that no layoffs will be made.

Urbana man acquitted of possession of firearm in October 2022 traffic stop
URBANA — An Urbana man has been acquitted of charges that alleged he had two firearms in 2022 that he wasn’t allowed to have due to prior convictions. A jury deliberated for about four hours April 17 before acquitting Dontarion M. Jordan, 30, of two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon. The two-day trial took place before Champaign County Judge Randy Rosenbaum.
Urbana man accused of breaking in to home, stealing television, other items
URBANA — An Urbana man was arraigned on charges that accuse him of breaking into a home last week and stealing a television, generator and 20 pairs of shoes. Champaign County Judge Brett Olmstead ruled that Eric Knight, 32, may await his pending trial outside of jail after he was charged last week with one count of residential burglary.

Champaign 19-year-old gets 4 years for role in online sale turned robbery
URBANA — A Champaign 19-year-old was sentenced this week to four years in prison for his role in an online sale turned armed robbery earlier this year.
