LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Critical fire danger returns to the region as we move into the weekend with increased wildfire danger for all the South Plains. Winds will begin light Saturday morning and increase in mid-afternoon and into the evening. Winds may top the 40-mph mark in the western South Plains late Saturday.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Dry conditions set in and, combined with high winds, bring more fire danger to the western and central counties. The dryline pushes east for now, along with thunderstorms. This will sunny us up a bit today, though temps are slightly cooler. Highs will range the 80s with a few upper 70s. Lubbock can expect to top out around 84.
