Huge, Pot-Smoking Prairie Dog Becomes The Unsung Hero of Lubbock
Lubbock resident, Jay Jones, crochetted a massive stuffed prairie dog, affectionately dubbed "Puff The Prairie Dog". You'll notice, in the video below, that he's also holding a little joint in his hand. He was created to help bring awareness to a local movement that has been gaining popularity and turning heads in the 806.

The New Lubbock Farmer’s Market Is An Absolute Treasure [Gallery]
I cannot say enough good things about this. The old Lubbock Farmer's Market was located on 19th and Buddy Holly. It had lots of adjacent parking and a wonderful vibe. People could easily see what was being made available and easily get it back to their cars. Really the only complaints I could see about the old location is the (at times) hot asphalt and the smell of old beer and the day-after awkwardness that clubs emit. Those things were a small price to pay for the location, but yes, they were present.

Lubbock's community of readers have one final month to visit a downtown bookstore, before this chapter of Wild Lark Books closes. Wild Lark Books first opened its doors at 513 Broadway in December 2021. Brianne van Reene, owner, initially opened her bookstore/publishing business/venue to create a space for authors, readers, and the community as a whole.

Lubbock legend and longtime radio host Dave King died Monday afternoon after entering palliative care with Hospice of Lubbock in late May. According to a social media post from his son, Landon, the communications expert was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer and had other malignant growths throughout his body.
