Two incidents of retail theft occurred at Meijer in Champaign, Illinois. In the first incident, two females stuffed clothes into a backpack and fled in a silver vehicle. The second incident involved a female who concealed clothing in a bag, tried on a coat, and left wearing it. The stolen merchandise was not paid for, resulting in a significant loss.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WICS) — A Champaign teen is on home confinement after being accused of painting swastikas and racial slurs at a Champaign cemetery last month. News Channel 20/Fox Illinois contacted State's Attorney Julia Reitz and she confirmed a hate crime is a detainable offense and Koca is considered a threat under the Safety, Accountability, Fairness, and Equity-Today (SAFE-T) Act.

Champaign Fire Department Responds to House Fire on Harris Ave; No Injuries Reported
On Thursday, December 7, the Champaign Fire Department attended a residential fire on the 1300 block of Harris Ave. The fire was confined to one bedroom in the house. There were no injuries to either firefighters or residents. A passerby, who saw flames at the back of the house, reported the fire. Firefighters arrived to find moderate smoke from the single-story house. They used a hose line to stop the fire from spreading beyond the bedroom. The French bread pizza sandwich at Manzella’s Italian Patio is superb. I had it at the Champaign trattoria yesterday as part of the restaurant’s lunch special of minestrone and a half sandwich ($13.25). Because the Italian sandwich was customizable with any toppings from the pizza part of the menu, I picked pepperoni, sausage, and onion. Served open faced, it looked like a pizza on first glance — instead of crust, toasted bread.
