Urbana man accused of kicking in another's door, beating him
URBANA — An Urbana man has been charged in an incident earlier this month in which someone broke into a man's home and beat him. Champaign County Judge Brett Olmstead ruled this week that Rodney K. Love, 23, may await his pending trial outside of jail after he was charged with one count of home invasion causing injury.

Charges dropped against man accused of shooting at three women
URBANA — Attempted-murder charges filed against a Champaign man last year have been dismissed due to what a state prosecutor said was a lack of cooperation from witnesses. Dwayne J. Henderson, 34, was charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of being an armed habitual criminal in August 2023, but all four charges were dropped this week before Champaign County Judge Matt Lee.

Remembering Doug Mills: Celebration of life to be held at Memorial Stadium
CHAMPAIGN — A funeral and celebration of life for former Illini star and local businessman Doug Mills will take place May 30 in the Colonnades Club at Memorial Stadium. Mills, who died Tuesday, played football, basketball and baseball at the University of Illinois before pursuing a long career at Busey Bank.
