Normal Fire Department announces the death of former chief
NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) — The Normal Fire Department announced they were notified of the death of retired Normal Fire Chief George Cermak on Thursday Morning. According to the department, Cermak joined the then-volunteer Normal Fire Department in 1964 and was one of the first paid firefighters hired in 1969. He was promoted to captain in 1970 and was named Normal Fire Chief in 1975.

NORMAL — A 5-3-5 double play thwarted a comeback effort by the home team as Pontiac escaped with a 4-3 nonconference softball victory over host Normal West Friday.
