A slow-moving cold front will trigger showers and thunderstorms overnight into Tuesday morning. The severe weather threat is low but not zero so there could be some isolated severe cells with damaging winds and hail. Once the front goes through, highs will be in the 50s the rest of the week. PEORIA (25News Now) - It will be another warm and windy day across Central Illinois as gusty southerly winds up to 30-35 miles per hour will drive temperatures back to the 70′s. Daytime highs will trend in the mid 70′s again, bringing daytime highs to near record levels. Our forecast high of 74 in Peoria would be just 3 degrees shy of the daytime record high temperature of 77 set back in 1961. A passing cold front will drive scattered thunderstorms across the region this evening into early Tuesday morning. A Marginal Risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe weather is in place area wide, meaning an isolated strong to severe storm is possible. Our primary threats are damaging winds and hail, but localized heavy rainfall and a brief spin-up tornado cannot are also possible. Our time frame for any severe weather will run from 7 PM this evening until 4 AM Tuesday.
