Tierney today announced that Michael Gilbert, 29, of Riverhead was found guilty of Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, after a jury trial for fatally shooting Tyrell Durham following an argument the victim had with Gilbert’s girlfriend in 2021.

Charles Evans, 38, from Patchogue, Suffolk County, received a 10-year prison sentence for drug sales and illegal weapons possession. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the sentence. Evans had sold cocaine and fentanyl to an undercover officer while on parole for a 2003 Manslaughter conviction. He will also have five years of supervision after his release.
