New London senior strives for Black excellence
New London ― Adrianna Benjamin fell in love with music at a young age, and it has always been a big part of her life. Her mother Kathleen Benjamin, known in the community as “Ms. B,“ was the children choir director at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in New London and her uncle played the keys. Benjamin also grew up listening to some of music’s greatest, including Aretha Franklin, James Brown and Whitney Houston.
New London to receive $1 million to clean up abandoned sites
New London ― The city is to receive $1 million from a federal grant to clean up abandoned commercial sites for development. The Revolving Loan Fund Grant, awarded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, will allow the city to provide five loans and up to 12 sub-grants to local organizations or entities to lead cleanup efforts.

Hartford ― The Mohegan Tribe submitted a winning bid Friday for the 113-acre St. Bernard School property in the Uncasville section of Montville, increasing its $6.5 million qualifying bid by $50,000 during an auction conducted at the law offices of Robinson & Cole, the firm representing the Roman Catholic Diocese of Norwich in the diocese’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy case.
Music in the Meadows concert moved indoors
