FIRST ALERT: Few more rounds of showers and storms over next few days
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Today has begun with light rain for most of us, but by the afternoon, expect clearer skies and temperatures maxing out in the upper 70s/low 80s lowlands, mid-70s mountains. This break from rain will be short-lived, as another round of thunderstorms rolls in overnight tonight. These storms shouldn’t be very severe in our area, but there is still potential for isolated strong winds. Our main concern is heavy rain, which remains a concern through tomorrow night, as more scattered rain and storms dapple the region tomorrow afternoon and evening. Any area that sees heavy rain linger for a bit too long could face flash flooding. Overnight into Friday, a cold front will pass to our east, ushering in a northwesterly flow that will put temperatures below average for Friday and the weekend (low/mid-60s lowlands, mid/upper 50s mountains). That northwesterly flow will also pick up moisture from the Great Lakes, keeping scattered rain showers in the forecast through Saturday. Thunderstorms are far less likely after frontal passage, but any that do arise would be non-severe.
