It's a homecoming! Akron native celebrates recent Grammy win
AKRON, Ohio — An Akron native who’s found success in the music industry is celebrating a huge accomplishment. Musician Allen Swoope, aka Swoope, won a Grammy in February. “It was for Best Contemporary Christian Song with an artist named Lacrae, featuring Tasha Cobbs [Leonard,] the song was called ‘Your Power’and I did production and songwriting.”
Summit County woman arrested after trying to run from deputies
SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A Summit County woman was arrested Thursday after trying to run from deputies, according to an area department. The Summit County Sheriff’s Office said around 11:30 a.m. deputies responded to Mayfair Road in the city of Green for reports of a suspicious woman walking down the street with a knife in her hand.

Akron police bust illegal gambling den, 56-year-old woman arrested and charged
A 56-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday night and charged with running an illegal gambling house, according to a press release from Akron Police. After an ongoing investigation, authorities executed a search warrant around 10:25 p.m. at a location in the 200 block of E. Market Street. During the search, officers seized nearly two dozen gambling machines, two handguns, electronics and more than $7,000 in cash.

Summit County man pleads guilty to kidnapping 3 children during carjacking at Taco Bell in Green
GREEN, Ohio — Mark Carlson, the man accused of carjacking a vehicle at Taco Bell in Green and kidnapping three children, has pleaded guilty in the case. Additionally, charges, including grand theft of a motor vehicle, abduction and endangering children, were dropped. The plea came less than a week before his trial was supposed to start in Summit County Common Pleas Court.

BARBERTON: Police were called to a Third Street Northwest home April 9 for a disturbance. A woman told police another woman stole items off her porch and made threats to her. The other woman denied taking anything or making any threats. Officers spoke to several witnesses who heard the woman and a man make threats toward the other woman. The man and woman were both charged with disorderly conduct.
