Irate Customer At Joliet Driver’s Facility Arrested After Attacking Security Guard
On April 25, 2024, at 5:14 p.m., Joliet Officers responded to the Illinois Secretary of State driver’s license facility located at 201 Joyce Road for a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers learned that a 21-year-old Aareon Newell of Coal City was a customer at the building and had grown irate at the employees over a discrepancy with his identification card. It was determined that Newell grew angry and began yelling profanities and threatened physical harm toward employees and a security guard.

A Will County Judge has ordered a convicted killer who was granted a new trial to be released from prison. In three weeks, Jeremy Boshears will walk out of jail for the first time since 2017. The Coal City married man was convicted of killing his girlfriend, 24-year-old Katie Kearns and concealing her murder in a 2022 murder trial. But in January of this year, Will County Judge Dave Carlson granted a new trial due to errors made during the original trial. Under the SAFE-T act judges have the discretion to release defendants.
