Cook County Feb 29 Weekly Crime Report: 162 Incidents and 227 Crime Stories. During the last week, Cook County reported a total of 162 crime cases. The most prevalent crime was shootings with 34 incidents, followed by both assault and suspicious situations, each with 20 cases. Robbery and vandalism were next in line, each having 17 cases. Theft incidents were reported 15 times, while burglary and arrests were both reported 12 times. Other types of crimes accounted for 9 cases, and the least reported crimes were trespass and domestic related incidents, each with 3 cases. The high incidence of shootings and assaults signifies a pressing issue of violence in the place. The data also suggests an urgent need for increased vigilance and law enforcement presence to curb the rising crime rates.

Joined by colleagues past and present, Skilling’s poignant farewell broadcast took over the entire 10 p.m. news, with recollections and video highlights from his nearly half century at the station. Growing up in west suburban Aurora, Skilling hit the local airwaves as a 14-year-old weathercaster on radio station WKKD, adding a local Aurora TV station to his resume while still in high school. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Skilling built a following in Milwaukee at WITI-TV, where he was paired with the station’s longtime weather sidekick, a wisecracking puppet named Albert the Alley Cat.
