Minor Injuries Reported Following Three School Buses In a Fender Bender
Northbound on I-55 is slammed from Arsenal Road to Bluff Road due to a crash involving three school buses. At least one school bus is from the Reed-Custer School district. There were minor injuries reported. There were school children on the bus, but again minor injuries.
They’re Roaring Back To Joliet
Good crowds this past weekend at Route 66 Raceway and apparently NHRA was impressed. WJOL has learned that they’ve signed a contract to return to Route 66 Raceway in 2025. This event was not always a guarantee, the track opened in 1998 and hosted this national event until 2019, but canceled due to COVID initially and not brought back for other reasons. NHRA returned in 2023 and with the success of this year’s event will be back next year in May as well.
Boshears To Be Held Behind Bars Before Next Trial
Jeremy Boshears, the Coal City man whose murder conviction was thrown out earlier this year, will remain behind bars following a court hearing earlier today. Boshears is accused of killing Kaitlyn Kearns, whom he dated for seven years, in November 2017. In Monday’s hearing, it was determined by the judge that there is a dangerous standard and willful flight standard that have been met to keep Boshears behind bars, according to the SAFE-T act.

Glasgow Announces Sanner Sentenced in 2021 Fatal Crest Hill Traffic Crash
Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow announces that Dakea Sanner, 29, of Crest Hill, has been sentenced to 6 years in prison for Aggravated Driving Under the Influence (a Class 2 felony), causing a fatal crash that resulted in the death of Martin Velemir in 2021. Sanner pled guilty today and was sentenced by Circuit Judge Carmen Goodman.

This Yellow Warbler was foraging for insects on the wild blackberry flowers. I think they were looking for nesting material, and she found some seeds on a nearby plant and planned to nest in a tree near the blackberries.

Overnight lane closures on I-80 at River Road
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that as part of ongoing efforts to replace the bridge carrying River Road over Interstate 80, in Shorewood, overnight lane closures, accompanied by 15-minute full expressway traffic stops, are scheduled to take place over three nights beginning, weather permitting, Tuesday, May 21. The closures are necessary to install steel support beams for the new bridge over the interstate.
