Man in Wilmington Trying To Get Into Homes
You may have seen social media posts from a woman in Wilmington who was frightened by a male trying to get into her home and offering candy to her children. The woman who is Mexican, says the man spoke to her in Spanish and she says he is an immigrant from Venezuela and needed help. He claimed the government won’t help him so he’ll take what he wants. The woman called Wilmington police and they spoke with the man who said he needed to go south. Police Chief Adam Zink tells WJOL that even if they arrested him he would be released based on the SAFE-T Act. Instead they drove the man south and dropped him off in Kankakee.

Fatal Crash Thursday Night In Preston Heights
Fatal crash on Thursday night in Preston Heights. It happened at 7:55 p.m, Illinois State Police responded to a three-vehicle crash at Route 53 and Louis Road. Two vehicles were travelling north on Route 53 when another vehicle travelling southbound failed to yield and turned left onto Louis Road. Driver of the vehicle turning left was ejected and died at the scene. Four others were injured. The Will County Coroner’s office identifying the deceased as 20-year-old Samuel J. Martin of Joliet Township. ISP is investigating. Final cause and manner will be determined following Autopsy, Police and Toxicological report.
Convicted Murderer Could Go Free Today, New Trail Granted
A new murder trial for Joliet Outlaw Jeremy Boshears. Will County Judge Dave Carlson denied Boshear’s lawyer’s request to have the murder case dismissed based on double jeopardy. The Coal City man was found guilty by a jury in 2022 but Judge Carlson in January of this year granted a new trial for Boshears due to defense attorney Chuck Bretz raising concerns about errors made by the prosecution.
Postponed: Overnight lane closures on I-80 at River Road
————— The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that as part of ongoing efforts to replace the bridge carrying River Road over Interstate 80, in Shorewood, overnight lane closures, accompanied by 15-minute full expressway traffic stops, are scheduled to take place over four nights beginning, weather permitting, Wednesday, April 24. The closures are necessary to install steel support beams for the new bridge over the interstate.
Over 10 Months Ago A Bolingbrook House Was Destroyed By Fire, Today The Open Wounds Still An Eyesore
If you’ve ever travelled along 127th Street just west of Essington Road in Bolingbrook, you may have a seen the charred remains of a two-story house. It looks like the fire just happened at 2 Fairfax Ct., but it occurred nearly a year ago. On June 11th in 2023, the fire started on the covered front porch doing damage to the entire house and flames shot up to the second floor rendering the home uninhabitable. Cause of blaze is not known and there were no injuries.
