Crash In Manhattan On Monday Sends Seven To The Hospital
A crash in Manhattan on Monday, May 13th at 52 and Baker Road involved three SUV’s and sent seven people to the hospital. Manhattan Fire Protection District Chief Steve Malone tells WJOL that all of those injuries were non-life threatening. It’s unclear of how the accident occurred. There is only one stop sign on Baker Road. All SUV’s suffered front damage to their vehicle. Those transferred to the hospital include three patients in their teens, three in their 40’s and a five-year-old. None were trapped. A total of eight ambulances were called to the scene but only seven ambulances were used. Manhattan Police helped with traffic, but Illinois State Police and Will County Sheriff’s were also on scene.
NAMI hosts Mental Health Awareness Night at Coal City High School
NAMI Will-Grundy is hosting a Mental Health Awareness Night at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Coal City High School, 655 W. Division St. Topics presented include recognizing signs and symptoms of mental health issues, identifying risk factors in youth, the importance of seeking help and support, and de-stigmatizing mental health conversations.
Veterans Dog Park opening after ceremony May 25
A dog park honoring US veterans is set to open during a ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 25 at the corner of Wapella Street and Wabena Avenue in Minooka. “A lonely, empty piece of green grass on a hill in downtown Minooka, Illinois is now one of the most beautiful Veterans Dog Parks in the country,” reads a Tuesday news release. “For three years, a lifelong resident drove by the open green pasture with a dream to design and construct a park for residents to bring their dogs to run and play off leash, but also a place to honor our Veterans. He envisioned a special place for Veterans to reminisce on their time wearing the uniform and their dedication and sacrifice for all those loved and lost.”
Morris welcomes National League of Cities for Centennial roadshow
The City of Morris hosted the National League of Cities on its Centennial Roadshow celebrating the organization’s 100th year on Monday. The National League of Cities is marking a century of commitment to advancing local government and advocating for the interests of cities, towns and villages nationwide by visiting 100 different cities in every region of the country. This trip is aimed at spotlighting the diversity, resilience, and transformation of America’s local communities. The trip started in March at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kans., where the NLC was founded. It will end in November when it reaches Tampa for the City Summit conference.
