Wicomico County Man Arrested for Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine
SALISBURY, MD – Tyree Anthony Showell, 47, was taken into custody on Monday, May 22, 2023, following an investigation by the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Community Action Team (CAT). A search and seizure warrant was executed at Showell’s residence on the 1200 block of Pocahontas Avenue, revealing 16.72 grams of cocaine, digital scales, packaging material, and marijuana. At the time of his arrest, Showell was on parole for previous Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) related offenses. He is currently held at the Wicomico County Detention Center without bond. Doubleheader win for FredNats
The FredNats opened up a two week home stand by sweeping both ends of a doubleheader against the Delmarva Shorebirds. In game one, which was a resumption from an April game that was suspended due to rain, the two clubs took the field in the bottom of the second inning with Delmarva ahead 2-1. Brad Lord held the score there, until the top of the fifth inning. Carter Young and Angel Tejada both singled, then Samuel Basallo got plunked to load the bases. Lord struck out a pair of batters to get two outs, but Erison Placencia singled into right field to plate Young and push Delmarva ahead 3-1.
The Parkside Rams capture the 2023 2A State Title

Salisbury Man Charged in Connection to School Burglary
SALISBURY, MD – Melvin Eugene Johnson, a 34-year-old Salisbury man, has been charged in connection with a burglary at West Salisbury Elementary School on July 31, 2022. On May 4, 2023, a search warrant was executed at Johnson’s residence where a .410 rifle was discovered in his bedroom. Johnson, a felon previously convicted of burglary, is prohibited from possessing firearms. He turned himself in on May 10, and was arrested on charges related to the burglary and possession of a firearm. Johnson is currently out on a $10,000 bond. Wicomico County Celebrates Memorial Day
SALISBURY, Md. - Our heroes were not forgotten in Wicomico County. Monday morning, veterans from all branches of the military were invited to the Wicomico County Civic Center. During the ceremony veterans in the audience and the fallen soldiers were honored. The service included: the singing of The National Anthem, branch prayers, Volley of Arms by Wicomico Sheriff's Department, Amazing Grace on the bagpipes, and the reading of the 191 memorial names.
