Teenager Charged with First-Degree Felony for Abduction of Migrants in Texas
A 17-year-old teenager named Josiah Lamarion Jackson has been charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping following an FBI hostage rescue operation that left one suspect dead and two migrants rescued.
Waller County’s 150th Year Commemoration
Several administrators from PVAMU and other stakeholders were invited by the City of Prairie View Planning Committee for the Waller Counter 150th Year Commemoration to a Meet-and-Greet event at Prairie View City Hall. Each attendee was asked to share his or her connection to the event as well as a personal anecdote. The Honorable Frank D. Jackson, former mayor of the City of Prairie View, provided a historical reflection of the region including the early years of PVAMU. He also appealed to representatives of PVAMU to engage with the local community to build connections of mutual benefit. Additionally, a couple of announcements were made by other presenters regarding upcoming events related to the Commemoration, including the Famer’s Market event scheduled for May 3rd, organized by PVAMU and the City of Prairie View and to be held in PVAMU’s Cooperative Extension Bldg.

Navasota Animal Shelter announces $35 adoption special beginning April 1
NAVASOTA, Texas — The City of Navasota has announced that the Navasota Animal Shelter will be hosting a month-long adoption event beginning on Saturday, April 1. For the duration of the event, pet adoptions will be $35. All adoptable pets have also been spayed or neutered, microchipped, been treated with flea and tick eradication and preventive medicine, and have gotten vaccine shots.

ARLINGTON, Texas (March 27, 2023) – Coming out of the elimination bracket, Prairie View A&M University’s resilience proved to be what was needed to overcome the Alabama State University bowling team at the 2023 SWAC Bowling Tournament.
