HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - Melvin O. Morales-Gomez was sentenced to 55 years in prison for the murder of his 3-year-old nephew, announced Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg. The 31-year-old was convicted by a jury after an eight-day trial for killing his nephew, Kevin Ramirez-Lara, on Jan. 30, 2020. The toddler had been staying with Morales-Gomez and his wife in their northwest Houston home after his mother, Morales-Gomez's sister, moved to Mexico to live with her boyfriend.

SPRING, Texas — Three individuals were arrested early on July 24, 2024, after a suspicious vehicle call led to the discovery of stolen mail and identifying information. Constable Ryan Gable's patrol deputies responded to the call in the 28400 block of Woodson's Lake Drive, where they detained the occupants of a maroon Honda Accord. The suspects, Bradlee Koba of Beaumont, Terrence Codoree of Harris County, and Tremaine Nichols of Harris County, were found with multiple pieces of mail and identifying information not belonging to them, according to a press release from the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable's Office.

Authorities are searching for three suspects connected to a deadly hit-and-run crash in Jersey Village on Tuesday.The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office posted about the crash on social media, saying it happened on the US-290 Northwest Freeway.Constable Mark Herman said the large truck failed to stop and ran into the back of another vehicle, killing the driver.Three Hispanic men got out of the truck to look at the damage before driving away, going east near the Sam Houston Toll Road, according to Hermann.Authorities did not provide further details about the suspects' descriptions but said they were last seen in a large 20-24-foot box truck or cargo van."If anyone has information on the wanted suspect vehicle, driver, or any dash camera video that might show the collision, please contact our office or your local law enforcement," Herman said.

Stolen truck chase in Magnolia ends with arrest and drug seizure
MAGNOLIA, Texas - A stolen truck chase in Magnolia ended with the arrest of a male driver and the seizure of drugs, according to the Magnolia Police Department.Officers located the stolen truck on 1488 yesterday evening. When they attempted to stop the vehicle, it began to evade. The chase led to Magnolia Ridge, where the driver attempted to dispose of drugs. However, the truck lost control in a roundabout, went over the curb, and blew out two tires.The male driver was taken into custody, and officers found 61 grams of methamphetamine and 8 grams of Xanax in the vehicle. The driver also had multiple felony warrants.
