‘HOT NIGHTS, COOL TUNES’ TO CONCLUDE WITH ‘80s MUSIC OF THE SPICOLIS
All-time hits from the 80’s will fill downtown Brenham tomorrow (Saturday) as “Hot Nights, Cool Tunes” closes out for the summer. The Spicolis will blast back to the days of the MTV generation super groups with their concert, starting at 7 p.m. at the corner of Alamo and Baylor Streets.
TWO PEOPLE ARRESTED FOR ILLEGAL DUMPING
Two people were arrested on illegal dumping charges by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. According to Sheriff Otto Hanak, on Wednesday, 35-year-old Brenham resident Anthony James Rogers was arrested by the Brenham Police Department during a traffic stop for Possession of Marijuana and placed into the Washington County Jail. At that time Rogers was wanted by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for Illegal Dumping. Rogers posted $1,500 in bonds on both charges and was released the following day.
‘THE REAL TEXAS GUN SHOW’ IN BRENHAM AUG. 3-4
“The Real Texas Gun Show” will be in Brenham next weekend for the final time this year. Residents will be able to buy, sell and trade firearms on Saturday and Sunday, August 3rd and 4th, at the Fireman’s Training Center. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
BRENHAM ISD NAMES KELLIE FONTENOT NEW SPECIAL ED DIRECTOR
Brenham ISD has chosen Kellie Fontenot as the new Special Education Director. Fontenot’s promotion, announced in a social media post on Wednesday, comes after having served 28 of her 29 years in education at Brenham ISD. Those include 10 years as a teacher, 16 years as a diagnostician and two years as the special education coordinator.

The Texas Chapter of the Zythological Society of North America will offer a way to cool off during the final “Hot Nights, Cool Tunes” concert of the summer this Saturday. “Hot Nights, Cold Brews”, a craft beer tasting event, will be held at Ant Street Inn in downtown Brenham from 6 to 9 p.m.
