Pott. Co. Road L-20 closed for storm cleanup
(Council Bluffs) -- Pottawattamie County authorities alert motorists of a road closure. Officials say the Old Lincoln Highway, or County Road L-20 is closed Wednesday approximately 1 to 1 1/2 miles south of Crescent between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Closure will allow crews to clean up tree debris from the recent storm event. Access will be granted only to emergency vehicles through the closure area.
Severe weather in western Iowa and eastern Nebraska causes damage, but rain vital for dry soil
The last two weeks in Iowa have been filled with desperately needed rain. The state has been in a three-year extended drought, the longest since the mid- to late 1950s, according to Iowa State Climatologist Justin Glisan. Rain showers, thunderstorms, and tornadoes caused damage and debris in southwestern Iowa on Friday and Saturday, particularly in the town of Minden, Iowa, and in West and East Pottawattamie Counties. More severe weather is expected this week throughout the state.

Jim Pillen has issued an emergency declaration for Douglas, Washington, and Lancaster counties in response to Friday’s tornadoes. The declaration opens up the Governor’s Emergency Fund for use. Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a state of emergency for Pottawattamie County on Friday.
