Council Bluffs man sentenced for street racing shooting death
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A Council Bluffs man convicted in the shooting death of a 21-year-old at an Omaha street racing event-turned-fight last summer has learned his fate. Austin Petersen, 23, will serve 16 to 17 years in prison for manslaughter. He will receive 321 days’ credit for time served. Petersen pleaded “no contest” in March to the manslaughter charge; in exchange, one count of using a firearm to commit a felony was dropped.

Crews are working to restore water to Minden. Regional Iowa Water is supplying the town for now. But officials hope to get the town producing its own water again by Tuesday. Western Iowa — Several western Iowa counties are sharing just how much damage they sustained as a result of the April 26 tornadoes. Pottawattamie County officials said they estimate having $20,916,438 worth of damage countywide, with an estimated $12,213,237 worth of property damage in Minden. The county said 302 properties were impacted by the storm, 194 of them in Minden.
