Triple-digit heat will be in full force for most areas of The Basin while mountainous areas of The Trans Pecos will reside in the 90’s as Meteorologist Ryan DePhillips highlights the humid air in eastern areas to start that will be replaced by even drier air this afternoon than yesterday. Despite a few passing low-level clouds and higher-level clouds, plenty of stable air will remain to inhibit chances for rain. Southerly winds will switch from the west in an intense-enough way with dry-enough air to elevate the risk for fires to possibly ignite, especially west of The Pecos River Valley. Then, a frontal boundary to the north of West Texas will start to move closer through tomorrow with not only a slight relief from heat, but also, more-humid air with an easterly component in the winds.

Clouds to start in eastern West Texas, as well as the mountains of The Trans Pecos, will give way to sunnier skies later today, but Meteorologist Ryan DePhillips expects below-normal high temperatures. As an upper-level low pressure system to the northwest continues to move eastward, the moisture will continue to move to the eastern parts of The Lone Star State with northwesterly drier winds to start. With some strong isolated thunderstorms quickly moving through this afternoon, temperatures will struggle to reach the 70’s, 80’s, and low 90’s as north-northeasterly winds will eventually develop. Clearer skies with chillier air tomorrow morning will lead to a warmer afternoon later on, but conditions will keep on drastically changing just in time for the weekend.
