Louisiana man accused in Ponzi scheme with fictitious E-trade account; deputies seek victims.
A Belle Rose man told friends he was investing their money in the market through E-Trade but was really running a Ponzi scheme, Assumption Parish sheriff's deputies said. Deputies arrested John Michael Thibodeaux, 44, on Friday after a five-month investigation following a complaint filed by his victims. Sheriff's office spokesman Lonny Cavalier said authorities have received calls from other potential victims as well and are still calculating how much money was involved.

ASCENSION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — Louisiana State Police are investigating after a man was killed in a car crash Saturday morning in Ascension Parish. Troopers were called shortly after 6 a.m. to a crash on Louisiana 3251 at Lawrence Minor Road in Ascension Parish. Police identified the victim as Niles R. Bartholomew, 35, of Baton Rouge.

23rd Judicial District reports guilty pleas for May 6-10
The 23rd Judicial District Attorney's Office, which includes the parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James, reported guilty pleas during the week of May 6-10. Anshjay Bourgeois, 13177 Melissa Heights Gonzales, LA, age 30, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling. The defendant was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
