Busy Wichita freeway ramp set to close temporarily

A busy Wichita freeway ramp is set to be closed much of the day on Friday, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation. As part of an ongoing project, the ramp from westbound Kellogg to southbound I-135 will be closed from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday, according to KDOT. The closure is for redecking work, the department said, which is part of an overall bridge replacement project. For the duration of the project, the inside lanes on I-135 (from Lincoln to Douglas) and Kellogg (Hillside to Topeka) will be closed intermittently. As a reminder to drivers, the department said all scheduled work is subject to weather conditions.

Kansas named one of the worst states for DUI arrests

Kansas ranked the 13th state with the highest number of DUI arrests while having some of the country's lowest rates of DUI fatalities in the country. Kansas ranked 13th in a report on the highest rates of of DUI arrest made by Zutobi , a driver's education and website. Despite having one of the highest rates of DUIs, Kansas ranked ninth for lowest rates of DUI fatalities. How many DUIs and DUI fatalities did Kansas have? Kansas had 6.70 DUI road fatalities per 100,000 drivers and 480.62 DUI arrests per 100,000 drivers, according to 2024 data collected by Zutobi. More Kansan men died in DUI crashes Zutobi also collected data on the gender of DUI crash fatalities. In Kansas during 2024, 75 men died from fatal crashes, while only 17 women died. This follows the national trend of 7,070 impaired male drivers dying in drunk driving crashes, compared with 1,591 impaired female drivers. Dover Drive Closed to Through Traffic Between Broadway and Vassar for Water Main Replacement

Dover Drive will be closed to through traffic between South Broadway Boulevard and Vassar Drive for a water main replacement, beginning Tuesday, Nov. 3.
