Step into a Victorian Christmas at these Muskegon mansions decorated for the holidays

MUSKEGON, MI -- The Hackley and Hume Historic Site will open its annual holiday tours with a festive evening event on Saturday, Nov. 28, from 3-7 p.m. The kickoff gives visitors a chance to make ornaments and postcards, take photos in a holiday carriage, and tour the two historic homes decorated by local community groups. Guests can also cast votes for the best-decorated room using two complimentary voting tickets included with admission. Additional voting tickets cost $1 each or six for $5, with voting continuing through Dec. 28.

Each week, the Ottawa County Department of Public Health releases a round-up of recent safety inspections at restaurants, schools and other facilities. Adhering to proper safety practices is critical to preventing foodborne illness and promoting public health. The Sentinel publishes regular reports on “priority” violations — ones that could directly lead to contamination of food or increase the risk of transmitting a foodborne illness, as well as corrective measures taken. The Sentinel also reports on “priority foundation” violations — ones that could lead to a priority violation. The health department notes “core” violations, but The Sentinel only reports on those if there’s a significant accumulation at a single eatery or the inspection noted more serious violations. Kings of Leon to play pair of Michigan shows on 'O My Beloved' tour

Veteran Southern rockers Kings of Leon have announced a pair of Michigan concerts on their upcoming tour behind their new album, "O My Beloved." The band will perform at Pine Knob on May 23 and at Grand Rapids' Acrisure Amphitheater on May 18. Tickets for both shows go on sale at 9 a.m. Nov. 13 via Ticketmaster. Presales start at 9 a.m. Nov. 9. The concerts are a part of the band's 30-date 2027 North American tour, which launches May 8 in Bristow, Va., and wraps Oct. 15 in New York City. Band of Horses will open both Michigan shows. "O My Beloved" is Kings of Leon's 10th album, and it follows 2024's "Can We Please Have Fun."
