What do moms in West Virginia want for Mother’s Day?

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — A new study set out to find what gifts moms in each state actually want to get for Mother’s Day.

Although a card and flowers are a nice gesture, the study by Casinos.us found that only one state prefers a purchased gift—New Mexico. Nationwide, the most wished-for Mother’s Day gift is an outing with family; it is preferred by moms in 26 states.

However, the study found that mothers in West Virginia are wishing for a chore-free day.

Other top gifts that are wished for nationwide are a spa day, weekend getaway or simply “time to myself.”

The study, which was based on results of a survey of mothers from across the country with a median age of 47 years old, also found that 58% of mothers think that receiving a physical gift is not important.

Almost all mothers agreed that the best gifts involve time with and recognition from the people within their immediate family. In fact, 90% of surveyed moms said they don’t expect any recognition from outside their family, and 87% said they don’t care about Mother’s Day posts or recognition on social media.
