It's an active weather day for northern California with showers and thunderstorms over the Sierra and eastward, and the valley will have a chance of unsettled weather this evening. Some of the showers and thunderstorms will deliver heavy rain to areas of Modoc, Lassen and Plumas counties, and a Flood Watch is in effect through late this evening due to excessive rain. Showers and thunderstorms are also possible this evening in the valley, but they'll be gone before midnight. Lows will be in the 40s and 50s. Friday will be mostly sunny and warm in the valley with isolated showers and thunderstorms in the mountains. Highs will remain in the seasonable mountain 60s and valley 80s.

The department says the outage may be exclusively affecting Verizon customers, but note their technicians are actively working to resolve the issue.
