Independent candidate, Jon Rose, certified to run for Athens County commissioner
On Wednesday, the Athens County Board of Elections voted unanimously to certify independent candidate Jon Rose's petition to run for a seat on Athens County Board of Commissioners. Rose, a former Athens County EMS employee, will run against incumbent Charlie Adkins for the term that starts Jan. 2, 2025. Rose collected 308 signatures for his petition, of which 209 were validated. On his campaign's Facebook page, Rose thanked his supporters. The deadline to certify independent candidates is May 31, according to the Ohio Secretary of State's website. Any protests against an independent candidate must be filed by June 14.
