RIO GRANDE — University of Rio Grande and Rio Grande Community College is pleased to announce that the Changing Tomorrows Scholarship Dinner, a fundraising event dedicated to fostering education and creating opportunities for students facing financial challenges, raised $41,800.

On May 2, at the Holzer Leadership & Innovation Center, guests from the community, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of Rio Grande gathered to contribute to Rio’s scholarship fund, aimed at providing crucial financial support to students with limited means.

The evening was a resounding success, raising funds through live and silent auctions, both generously stocked with items and experiences donated by local businesses and individuals. Attendees enjoyed a social hour and dinner, enhanced by special musical performances by the Grande Chorale.

President Ryan Smith shared a Rio update, highlighting the institution’s commitment to providing quality education and transforming lives. Inspiring stories from talented students highlighted the power of scholarships, showcasing firsthand the profound impact of philanthropy on educational attainment.

Jackson County native Kayleigh Osborne, who returned to school as a non-traditional student, shared her story on the impact that scholarships had on her educational journey.

“I probably wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for scholarships,” she said. “We had to shift to a one income household and scholarships helped tremendously to make my dreams come true.”

All proceeds from the event will directly impact the scholarship fund, ensuring that deserving students have access to the resources they need to pursue their academic endeavors.
