Metro Detroit business owner faces 23 federal charges, accused of withholding millions from IRS
NORTHVILLE, Mich. – A businessman from Northville is accused of being responsible for millions of dollars worth of tax fraud. Ali Kassem Kain allegedly filed false tax documents in connection with his business that arranged for automobiles to be shipped abroad. He reportedly didn’t pay employment taxes for the company’s employees either.

A combination of slightly shy and remarkably self-possessed, she talked about how college had always been a dream, and a source of worry due to the high cost to her family. As we walked through the bright, welcoming halls of the Livonia Career Technical Center, a hands-on facility where high schoolers learn technical skills, it was clear Layla is not alone, and it was also clear we desperately need young voices like Layla’s at the policy table.
Michigan town approves site plan for 127-home development, so this golf course's days could be numbered
A developer may finally get a shot at putting houses on the Cattails Golf Club course in Lyon Township in the Detroit metro area. The township board, in a 6-0 vote Monday night, approved a preliminary site plan for Cattails Cove, a 127-home development on the 160-acre golf course property located south of 9 Mile Road and east of Griswold. Trustee Kristofer Enlow was absent.

Monroe County has several summer camp options
MONROE COUNTY — Monroe County children and teens have several options for summer camps this year. ∎The Opportunity Center at the Arthur Lesow Community Center, 120 Eastchester St., will again offer seven weeks of free camps. Each session runs a week and will meet from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Boxing Camp and Youth Cooking Creations have different times. Only Boxing Camp will meet the week of July 1.
