Lafayette juvenile detention home becomes first in US with FBI award

The Lafayette Juvenile Detention Home has become the first juvenile detention facility in the United States to receive the FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI-LEEDA) Trilogy Award , a national recognition honoring agencies whose entire command staff completes a series of advanced leadership development programs. Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) announced the achievement Monday, highlighting the facility's commitment to leadership, accountability and professional development in the care of local youth. The award recognizes the completion of three FBI-LEEDA leadership programs by LJDH Administrator Alonzo Thomas and Operations Managers Ronald Irvin and Michael Rush. The three leaders completed the required training programs within 18 months, meeting the qualifications for the Agency Trilogy Award. “Alonzo and his team have worked hard to bring stability, accountability and a high level of professionalism to our Juvenile Detention Home,” Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet said. “I’m grateful for the leadership they bring to this facility every day and their commitment to maintaining high standards for both the staff and the youth in their care.” The FBI-LEEDA Trilogy includes the Supervisor Leadership Institute, Command Leadership Institute and Executive Leadership Institute. The programs are designed to strengthen supervisory skills, decision-making, organizational leadership and management practices within public safety organizations.
