Driver identified in fatal semi-truck crash on Interstate 5 near Albany
HARRISBURG, Ore. -- Interstate 5 near Harrisburg was closed for about six hours on Saturday after a fatal semi-truck crash, Oregon State Police reported. According to OSP, at about 3 p.m. on March 18, troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near milepost 210. OSP said their preliminary investigation of the crash site revealed that a semi-truck and trailer, operated by Branden Hamilton, 50, of Buffalo, New York, went off the roadway and hit the guardrail and bridge cement barrier on I-5 southbound. Hamilton was pronounced deceased at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, OSP said.

Volunteer drivers needed in rural areas for medical transports
LANE COUNTY, Ore. -- A few good drivers is what the The Senior Connections Rural Medical Escort Program needs in order to get seniors to their medical appointments. The program is part of Senior & Disability Services, which is a division of the Lane Council of Governments. Drivers are needed in Cottage Grove, Junction City, Veneta, Oakridge, Florence, and surrounding areas. In order to get more drivers the program is offering a car mileage reimbursement, and it's allowing volunteers to have a flexible daytime schedule.
Man hospitalized after stabbing at Corvallis skate park
CORVALLIS, Ore. (KPTV) - A man was rushed to a hospital early Wednesday morning after a stabbing at a skate park, according to the Corvallis Police Department. Just after 3 a.m., officers were called out to a stabbing at Eric Scott McKinley Skate Park, located at 190 Southwest B Avenue. Officers arrived and found a 41-year-old man with stab wounds.

Attempt to get Port of Alsea board recall on May ballot fails
WALDPORT — An attempt to get a recall election of four of five Port of Alsea commissioners on the May ballot has failed to gather enough signatures. A recall of port commissioners was first threatened during a meeting last July.
