Lucky Leaf Cannabis Expo coming to Minneapolis this weekend

The largest cannabis event in Minnesota history at the Minneapolis Convention Center is this Friday and Saturday and the Lucky Leaf Expo couldn't come at a better time says cannabis entrepreneur Sarah Gullickson.

"People can kind of, you know, suss out the opportunity and really figure out if this industry is for them," explains Gullickson.

There are many obstacles a normal business owner doesn't have to face.

"We don't have normal banking, we have to do taxes differently, we have regulatory compliance nightmares," she says.

And because there's so much red tape, lawyers are good friends to have. Jenn Randolph Resa with North Star Law Group in St. Paul.

"Being a facilitator and a guide to people as they work to think about what their business could be, and figure out how to do that within the scope of the law," Resa said.

She says there's a ton of excitement and energy about Minnesota cannabis right now.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz signed legislation legalizing recreational marijuana in the state in 2023 , making Minnesota the 23rd state to do so. Now, retailers and other businesses are working on how to implement that industry across the state.

Lucky Leaf Expo focuses on providing opportunities for professionals across the country to engage the next generation of cannabis businesses.
