Bloomington homeowner wakes up to 20-pound snapping turtle on front porch
BLOOMINGTON, Minn -- Homeowner Bruce McFadzean awoke Friday morning not to any packages on his front porch, but to something entirely different: A roughly 20-pound snapping turtle. RELATED: Meet Como Zoo's new snow leopard cubThe turtle appeared content to sit on the welcome mat and reluctant to move, leading McFadzean to call the police. An officer from the Bloomington Police Department arrived and escorted the turtle off of the property.

Replacements Photos Removed From University Of Minnesota Building
In 1985, hometown heroes the Replacements played a concert at Coffman Memorial Union at the University of Minnesota. The setlist looks awesome. (They covered “September Gurls”!) At the gig, Minnesota music photographer Daniel Corrigan, who shot the iconic rooftop photo of the ‘Mats that became the cover of Let It Be, snapped some shots of the band in the Coffman elevator. Until recently, framed copies of two of those photos could be seen hanging at Coffman, but as Minneapolis resident Tim Johnson pointed out on Twitter, they’ve been removed.

MINNEAPOLIS -- The man accused of stealing the iconic "The Wizard of Oz" ruby slippers from the Judy Garland Museum has pleaded not guilty in federal court on Thursday.According to charges, Terry Martin, 76, allegedly stole the slippers worn by Judy Garland from the Grand Rapids museum back in 2005.The slippers, which are worth at least $100,000, were recovered during a sting operation in Minneapolis in 2018. When the owner was given them back, he noted that they were as "pristine" as before they were stolen.RELATED: Man charged with stealing "The Wizard of Oz" ruby slippers from Judy Garland Museum in Grand RapidsMartin pleaded not guilty to one count of theft of major artwork during his first court appearance, which was conducted over video due to his health. Martin requested a public defender for the case and was released with conditions pending the trial.The protection says it plans to introduce evidence of co-conspirators and confidential informants when the time comes but did not elaborate.Four known pairs of the ruby slippers exist. The recovered slippers were sent to the Smithsonian, where conservators examined them and determined the ruby slippers were authentic.
