Minneapolis streets saw a bout of violence Thursday night as a woman fell victim to a savage carjack at the hands of three suspects, now in police custody. According to a post by the Minneapolis Police Department, the trio accosted the business owner, unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks, and made off with her vehicle, only to be apprehended following a short chase.

MINNEAPOLIS — Five people were arrested and an officer was injured after a driver in a stolen vehicle fled a traffic stop and crashed near the University of Minnesota early Sunday, police said.An officer tried to stop the vehicle just after midnight, the University of Minnesota Police Department said. The driver fled and crashed near 15th Avenue Southeast and Fourth Street Southeast. After the crash, five people tried to run from the scene, police said. They were all taken into custody.An officer was injured during the arrests, police said. He was taken to Hennepin Healthcare and treated for minor injuries.

MINNEAPOLIS — Monday will be warm and windy, and more rain is on the way this week.Highs in the Twin Cities will be around 75 degrees and wind gusts will reach up to 45 mph. Western Minnesota will be under a wind advisory from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.Storms will develop out west later in the day and pass through the metro Tuesday morning. More showers and storms are possible in the afternoon as well. The threat of severe weather will mostly be concentrated south of the Twin Cities, but there is a chance of stronger storms in the metro, too. Highs will top out in the lower 70s.Wednesday will be fairly dry, then Thursday will bring more rain and cooler temperatures.The weekend forecast is looking pleasant so far, with sunshine and highs in the upper 60s on tap.
St. Cloud police seek missing girl, 14, who may be in Twin Cities
ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Police in St. Cloud are looking for a missing teenage girl who may have traveled to the Twin Cities.Fourteen-year-old Emmarae Gervasi was last seen Friday leaving the 1700 block of Seventh Avenue South, the St. Cloud Police Department said. At the time, she was wearing a black tank top and black sweatpants with Betty Boop on them.Police described Gervasi as 5'5" with dark brown hair and brown eyes.Police believe she was looking for someone to take her to the Twin Cities.Anyone with information about Gervasi is asked to call the St. Cloud Police Department at 320-251-1200.
Pedestrian hit on I-35W in Bloomington is gravely injured, patrol says
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — A pedestrian has life-threatening injuries after being struck on Interstate 35W in Bloomington Monday morning, authorities said.The 39-year-old man ran across the northbound lanes of the highway and up a hill before running back down and trying to cross again, the Minnesota State Patrol said. A driver in an SUV struck him in the middle lane just after 6 a.m.The pedestrian was taken to Hennepin Healthcare. The driver was uninjured. Traffic was diverted off I-35W at 90th Street for a time during the morning commute Monday as the patrol investigated. The highway reopened shortly after 8 a.m.
Bystanders rescue drowning man from Bde Maka Ska
MINNEAPOLIS — Bystanders in Minneapolis helped save a man's life after pulling him from Bde Maka Ska late Sunday afternoon.The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Water Patrol says it responded to a potential drowning on the lake shortly before 5:30 p.m.A 23-year-old man had been swimming when he went underwater, police say.Bystanders were able to get the man out of the water and began CPR until paramedics arrived and took over.Paramedics transported the man to the Hennepin County Medical Center for further evaluation.Members of the Minneapolis Police Department, Minneapolis Park Police and local fire departments also responded to the incident.
Man charged in 2013 fatal shooting at Minneapolis gas station upon return to U.S.
MINNEAPOLIS — A man who allegedly fled the country after fatally shooting a man in October of 2013 now faces charges.The shooting happened shortly before midnight on Oct. 30, 2013, at a gas station at the intersection of Washington Avenue South and 12th Avenue South. The 26-year-old victim was found in the driver's seat of a car with multiple gunshot wounds to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
