Christmas comes early for Door County Toys for Kids
None of it is for them, but the toys, books, and games you donated this year to Door County Toys for Kids mean the world to the organization's volunteers. After the thousands of future gifts were dropped off at the Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church on Thursday, volunteers sorted the items into several categories so the over 560 families benefitting from the program can make their Christmas selections. For Jamie and Jaci Baermann, it is not just the initial drop-off day or the distribution day that sticks out to them. Instead, it is seeing everything unfold in the community over the course of several weeks that makes them grateful to live in Door County.
Peshtigo High School Spanish Club Visits Belize
Over the week of Thanksgiving, the Peshtigo High School’s Spanish Club’s Advisors, Jackie Lemire and Cindy Birch, took their students on a field trip that they will never forget. Lemire and Birch brought twenty one students on a week-long trip to the country of Belize, which is located on the Yucatan Peninsula in Central America. While there, they were able to be immersed in a new Latin American culture, visit important Maya historical sites, and explore the many wondrous aspects of nature.

Local Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center Earns National Recognition for Maternity Care
Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center and two other Advocate Health hospitals have received the 'Maternity Care Access Hospital' title from U.S. News & World Report. This title is awarded to hospitals offering high-quality maternity care in areas lacking such services. The other two hospitals are Atrium Health Union in Monroe, North Carolina, and Aurora Medical Center – Bay Area in Marinette, Wisconsin. Floyd Medical Center, with over 2018 births this year, is the region's only hospital with a Level III neonatal intensive care unit.
Clippers girls grind out win over Truckers
The Sturgeon Bay girls' basketball team emerged victorious Friday night with a 31-29 win over Clintonville. The game was tied 15-15 at the break and the Clippers were given an extra dose of motivation before the start of the second half when it was learned that senior Tori Alger suffered a knee injury and would not return.
Clippers Beat Bulldogs in Boys Basketball
Sturgeon Bay’s boys basketball team recorded its first Packerland Conference victory of the season Tuesday when the Clippers won at home over Peshtigo, 71-48. Garrett Ulberg led Sturgeon Bay by scoring all of his game-high 18 points in the first half, when the Clippers led, 41-22. Hayden Tracy added 12 points with Jackson Starr scoring 11 more.
