The Clearing Folk School will offer free guided hikes covering the 88-year history, folklore and landscape of the school and its 128-acre property on weekends starting May 4. Peshtigo Elementary student honored for shipwreck discovery
PESHTIGO, Wis. (WBAY) - The Wisconsin Historical Society honored a student at Peshtigo Elementary on Monday for finding a century-old shipwreck with her father. While out fishing on Lake Michigan with her father last year, Henley Wollak spotted the sunken vessel after a sonar device for fishing picked up on the wreck. The ship, confirmed as the George l. Newman, was built in 1855.
