    Cappaert, Putnam help Lady Eagles soar to second at North Dickinson

    FELCH, Mich. — The Stephenson High School girls track and field team finished as the runner-up at the North Dickinson Booster Club Invitational on Tuesday.

    Bark River-Harris took the win with 158.3 points while the Eagles finished second with 102 points.

    Meanwhile, the Stephenson boys placed seventh while Forest Park took the win with 138 points.

    The Eagle girls dominated the distance events.

    Faith Cappaert won the 800m with a time of 2:41.05 as well as the 1600m with a time of 5:50.55. Meanwhile Joelle Beaudo was fourth in the 800m at 2:52.10 and Kayela Putnam was fifth in the 1600m at 6:32.63.

    Kayela Putnam was the runner-up in the 3200m run at 13:58.55 while her sister Gabriella was fifth at 14:43.98.

    In the field events, Kayela Putnam won the pole vault at 8-06, and Madalynn Vista placed third in the high-jump at 4-04.

    The Eagle throwers scored well with Alayna Strahl finishing as the runner-up in the discus with a toss of 82-05.75 while Caitlyn Johnson was fourth at 79-01.

    In the shot put, Strahl and Johnson placed third and fourth at 28-06 and 26-04.5 respectively.

    In the relays, Beaudo, the Putnam sisters and Cappaert won the 4x800m with a time of 11:26.73 while Vista, Adria Ruleau, Beaudo and Cappaert crossed the line second in the 4x400m relay at 4:34.52.

    For the boys, Asher Priebe led the Eagle sprinters with a fourth-place finish in the 100m dash, covering the length in 12.52 seconds.

    Priebe then anchored the 4x100m relay team along with Ashton Grinsteiner, Oren Marcoe and Dusty Gallop to place second at 50.89 seconds.

    Cannon Kuntze turned in a high-mileage day, placing fourth in the 3200m run at 11:28.36, fifth in the 1600m run at 5:17.50 and fifth in the 800m run at 2:29.32.

    Dusty Gallop was fourth in the 300m hurdles at 50.40, and Cooper Gallop finished sixth in the discus with a throw of 84-10.
