Grand Theater in Wausau reopens after renovations
The new-look Grand Theater opens Saturday. Six months of construction are in the books, and the venue is ready to welcome Wayne Newton to the stage. Second Century Campaign Marketing Manager Sadie Fisher says patrons will notice a mix of new and old looks. “It will feel like the Grand you know and love, but it also looks so much brighter and fresher. Wausau’s public works director blames the council for lost lead pipe forgiveness, and the record shows alders were told in 2024 an ordinance would earn state funding points. “Had the City Council passed the resolution timely the city would have scored within the principal forgiveness funding range,” Public Works and Utilities Director Eric Lindman wrote in a Nov. 4 memo to the Wausau Water Works Commission.

Edgar falters late as Wildcats bid for 4th consecutive state trip ends
EDGAR — Edgar's season and pursuit for a fourth consecutive trip to Madison for the football state championships came down to one final possession Friday night. The Wildcats had a chance to complete a late comeback against Lomira in a WIAA Division 6 Level 3 playoff game, but couldn't find the go-ahead points in a 16-12 loss. Edgar pulled within two when Landon Lukasko powered into the end zone with 7:04 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Wildcats attempted an option pass on the two-point conversion, but the attempt fell incomplete, leaving Lomira with a 14-12 advantage. Edgar's defense gave the Wildcats another opportunity, forcing a Lomira punt with less than seven minutes remaining. A safety with 2:24 remaining spelled disaster and pushed Lomira's lead to 16-12, where it held on to hand the Wildcats their season-ending loss. Wausau’s new credit card policy bans gift cards and alcohol but sets no spending caps
Wausau’s first comprehensive credit card policy would ban gift cards, alcohol and split charges, but the draft sets no spending caps on the city’s 65 cards. The Finance Committee takes up the policy Tuesday, three weeks after a Wausau Pilot & Review investigation found the cards carried $408,500 in combined monthly limits with no per-purchase caps or merchant restrictions.
