Caribou Outage Caused by Equipment Failure
CARIBOU, Maine (WAGM) - An equipment failure caused a power outage in Caribou over the weekend. According to Versant Power, the outage affected 1,166 customers in the area. Versant says customers lost power at 10:06 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, because a set of dead-end insulators needed to be replaced. A dead-end insulator helps hold a power line in place at the end of a stretch of line, while keeping electricity from moving into the pole or support structure. Versant Power crews removed the old, damaged insulators, replaced them with new ones, and all customers were restored by 12:13 p.m.
