Division III and IV softball: Oak Harbor to face former league foe in regional semifinal
Three Toledo-area high school softball teams will be chasing regionals in Division III and Division IV this week. In Division III, sixth-ranked NBC champion Oak Harbor (24-2, 11-1) looks to earn its second trip to the state final four in three years after reaching the D-II semifinals in 2022. The Rockets of second-year coach Cami Haas face former longtime Sandusky Bay Conference foe Margaretta (19-10) in Wednesday's 5 p.m. semifinal at Findlay High School. Wood county man killed in motorcycle crash
A Wood County man was killed Thursday night when the motorcycle he was operating slammed into the rear of a semi-tractor trailer on I-75 in Perrysburg Township. Aaron D. Gardner, 21, of West Millgrove, Ohio, was southbound on I-75 near Reitz Road at 11:38 p.m. when he accelerated at a high rate of speed and lost control, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The 2024 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle Mr. Gardner was operating veered from the left lane into the right lane where it struck the rear of a semi being driven by Albert G. Woodley, 64, of Farmington Hills, Mich. Mr. Gardner was thrown from the motorcycle and was struck by another vehicle. Mr. Gardner was wearing a helmet and protective gear at the time of the crash. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Get Ready to Ride: The Old Fort Days Rodeo begins Memorial Day, May 27th
Saddle up for the 91st annual Old Fort Days Rodeo, Memorial Day, May 27th through June 1st at Kay Rodgers Park in Fort Smith. Contestants from all over the world will compete for one of largest prize purses in Arkansas. Attendees will see some the rankest bulls and broncs in America. Rodeo events include saddle bronc riding, bull riding, bareback riding, calf roping, barrel racing, team roping, steer wrestling, breakaway roping, kid’s wild pony races and crowd favorite mutton bustin. This year marks the 91st year of operation for the rodeo organization. The rodeo festivities kick off with the Old Fort Days Rodeo parade at 10:00am on Monday, May 27th along Garrison Avenue in downtown Fort Smith. This year’s parade will feature the Express Clydesdales from Yukon, Oklahoma. These majestic animals will be marching in the parade and be on display at the rodeo that evening. On Tuesday, May 28th they are the featured attraction at the rodeo grand entry.
