Local woman takes home high honors in Lincoln vocal competition
LINCOLNTON – The third time was the charm for Alexandria “Allie” McNeely who took home first place and a $2,500 scholarship at the annual Heafner/Williams Vocal Competition on Sunday. Homeschooled, McNeely grew up in a musical household in Vale and started singing when she was three years old. She started singing in the Lenoir-Rhyne Youth Chorus when she was in middle school.

Road closure for tree removal in Hickory
HICKORY, NC (March 28, 2024) ⇒ City of Hickory crews will close the intersection of Seventh Avenue NE and Fifth Avenue Place NE on April 8 and 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for tree removal. Detour routes will be established and clearly marked. Final budget proves elusive; renovations to begin on Lincoln courthouse
